Is ice better than heat for ankle sprains?

Ankle sprains are one of the most common injuries among people, especially among those who are engaged sports activities. If a person requires treatment for ankle sprain, which medical alternative should be used or which one is better: ice or heat?
Some of them might be of the opinion that heat is good. Of course, heat is a good first aid against ankle sprains. It reduces the pain and stimulates the blood to heal the sprain. Even people having severe injuries can be brought back to normal by using heat therapy with about 30 days.
Some others prefer ice for quick recovery from sprains. It heals sprains by reducing blood flow and temperature. Ice therapy could completey remove the pain and makes one back to normal. Severe injuries could be cured with the help of ice with about the half of what heat takes i.e. 15 days!
The above discussion shows that ice is a better first aid against ankle sprains than heat. If you have any points or anything about this topic to say, then please comment.
